In 2018 Shimmy Shake set up an International Co-operation with the World Of Orient Festival in Hannover, Germany, an intercultural project to co-produce a new Tribal Fusion Bellydance performance.
The project was for 4 dancers – 2 from Holland and 2 living in Germany. The Dutch dancers were specially selected for this project during the Shimmy Shake Talent Search in Holland (March/April), and the German dancers during the Tribal Fusion Festival Competition Hannover in June.
The participants spent 2 full weekends working on the piece in Frankfurt and continued the coaching via Skype and via films of them working. The work was premiered in Rotterdam on 11 November 2018 and will perform in Hannover from 8 – 10 March 2019. Thereafter this work can be booked at festivals.
The choreographer chosen to lead the artistic process for the first international exchange was Eliana Hofmann (DE). This project is known under the title 'Moving Tribe'
Dancers: Dayenne Dijkland, Felicitas Kle, Jasmine Brandes & Jolijn Calle
The result of the co-operation was a stunningly beautiful and powerful choreography that was performed with great technique and grace, at the highest level.
In 2019 there will be an international co-operation organized. The details will be available after March 2019.
