Because of Shimmy Shake coaching in 2012, Vleer and Annelies found themselves on the same stage. They clicked right away, and decided to create a performance together with the name ‘She Beckons’. 7 years later, they still dance together!

This Sunday (June 30th) they will perform on the People Stage during Parkpop in The Hague! She Beckens is part of a Dansplatform performance which starts at 13:45 on the People Stage.

She Beckons

She Beckons was the name of the first performance Vleer and Annelies created together. They liked performing together so much, they turned the one-time performance into a dancing duo! She Beckons likes to explore boundaries: the small lines between different dance styles, between theatre and dance and between light and dark. In the repertoire, you’ll find anything from solid metal dancing to twenties glamour and even some steampunk adventures.

Annelies and Vleer

Been a dancer since age 4, Annelies has had a yearslong base in classical- and jazz ballet, street dance and show dance. After some exploring of other styles, she fell for the femininity and elegance of belly dance. One look at dancer Halima was enough to fall in love.

For over 10 years Annelies trained in Tribal Fusion Bellydance and followed lessons with Tjarda van Straten. Recently she’s gotten into Modern Lyrical and provided a dance frame for a book presentation during the Elfia Festival among other projects.

Vleer is a dancer and dance teacher from The Hague. She combines Urban styles and theatrical elements with Fusion Bellydance. She creates a story by combining the fluid movement of belly dance with robotic isolations.

Also started dancing at a young age, Vleer had her roots in Hip Hop, House, Street- and Latin dance. In 2007 she fell in love with Tribal Fusion Bellydance because of a video of Tribal Fusion icon Rachel Brice. She’sbeen hooked ever since.

These talents were scouted by different culture professionals from The Hague or they won a contest providing them a place on this stage.
