This Sunday is the third edition of the Shimmy Shake Talent Carnival! An event which grew around the annual Shimmy Shake Talent Show, the grand finale of our Talent Search. The Talent Show, which will be performed at 12:300h and 15:00h, is still an important part of the afternoon, but there is much more to keep you busy this Sunday at Theater ‘t Kapelletje in Rotterdam.
In between the two shows in the theatre, you can enjoy a free Open Podium Show in the studio of the venue. A lot of dancers applied to dance on this stage so we will have a full program there. Just walk in and enjoy the amazing fusion bellydance performances. Special guest performances by The Dutch Tribal Collective, Shalini Shines (Dominican Bachata) and NavRang (Rajasthani Folk Dance).

In the mood for some dancing yourself? Feel free and dance in the Mystic Garden! Still a bit unsure of your skills? This year you can follow a 45-minute workshop in the Garden! At 12:45h we start with a classic Tribal Fusion Workshops by the amazing Tjarda van Straten. Get in, and after this workshop you will be able to dance with everybody else. At 15:15h Dhyana will introduce us to Belly-Qi-Dance. Belly-Qi-Dance combines the old Chinese wisdom about the energy of life with sensual bellydance. These genres supplement and reinforce each other. Belly-Qi-Dance is beneficial for the woman’s health and brings magic to your dance! Men are welcome to join as well. Oh and, did we already tell you can join these workshops for free?

Tired of dancing? Roam around the cosy bazaar, grab something to eat or buy yourself some nice trinkets. At Tante Maria for instance, a lady from Rotterdam who sells contemporary handmade products and craft designs inspired by Mexican colors and traditions. Tante Maria stated with the idea of wanting to share in Europe some of her native traditions, like the piñatas. When you buy here, you will not only take an article with you but a small part of Mexico and its culture that they want to share with the entire world.

After the very positive reactions during last Shimmy Shake Festival, Sissy Gauthy is back with her Creatribal creations. Thanks to its line of Creatribal dancewear, you will be able to buy unique costumes and dance accessories, made to measure and handmade. The dance is universal but for Sissi, you are unique!
An interesting vendor this Sunday are beekeepers Hung Nguyen and Nga Bui from Dharma Nectar. Their bees live in the nature surrounding Rijswijk and Delft and are kept in a bio-dynamic way, meaning these bees can fly where they want, will not be around pesticides and are treated friendly with respect for the little animals. The proceeds of their products will go to small scale humanitarian projects in Vietnam.
In 2018, Wendy Ouwehand presented her book ‘Buikdans heeft meer om het lijf’, a book about 40 years of bellydance in the Netherlands. We have the honour to welcome Wendy this Talent Carnival! She will be at the bazaar where you can purchase her book, and talk with her about the rich world of bellydance in the Netherlands.

The ladies of Roots of India will be at the bazaar too. They will take a range of products with them among there jewellery, clothing and products to decorate your house with a nice Indian vibe. One of them will also be available to create amazing henna artworks.
Gotten hungry after so much fun? Grab a bite at La Doña, known for their delicious and authentic Mexican cuisine. She assured us there will be vegetarian options on her menu so there will be something for everybody. You cannot leave without having tried one of her taco’s!
Gotten enthusiastic? Be there this Sunday, June 9th. Theater ‘t Kapelletje, Rotterdam (Noord). The Garden opens at noon (12:00) and will be open untill 17:00h. Curious for the Talent Show?
